James R. Purvis

Bag Room Manager Extraordinaire

If you've ever played golf at Forest Hill Field Club then chances are you've met funny man Jim Purvis.  It all started back in 2000 when Jim (aka Purv, aka The Purv) took his first job caddying at Forest Hill.  Jim moved over into the bag room in 2002 and has been helping our members prepare for their round of golf ever since.  That might include loading carts, cleaning clubs, setting up tournaments, scheduling staff, and/or otherwise assisting the starter.  On slower days you can often find Jim going above and beyond, even running members cars to the car wash and all with a smile. 

The rest of the time Jim has been focused on going to school for Business Management.  He is thrilled to be graduating from Kean University this Spring.  Jim's so proud that his younger sister, Liana, is also graduating in May from Montclair State.  Jim and Liana lost their mother three years and have been on their own since.  It's obvious that Jim's quiet strength, maturity and dedication are second only to his heart of gold.  

Lucky for us, Jim plans to stay at The Hill for the remainder of the season before tackling his next endeavor in the Fall.

It's a Good Friday

If you're lucky enough to have the day off, we'll be ready.  The course is going to open early tomorrow at 7:30 and we're serving Complimentary Bagels and Coffee in the Grille Room! 

Ladies Opening Day

The Ladies kicked the season off today in style.  We already recieved complimentary emails about both breakfast and the sit-down luncheon.  Next week we promised to deliver better weather so that they can play the full 18!

Employee Spotlight

Janet Schreyer

Accounts Payable/Receivable, x 212

Janet joined the staff at FHFC in 2001.  She was hired for the Accounts Recievable position, and has since added on Accounts Payable as well as many Membership and other administrative functions.  As such, if you ever have a question on your invoice or the Club in general, Janet is the person to know.  Janet is available to assist Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm.

If you make it up to Janet's desk on the third floor, you can meet the office mascot, Fishie.  Janet adopted Fishie about 2 years ago and was integral in a fundraiser this year to provide Fishie with larger living quarters.

Janet grew up and lives in Belleville, and she can prove it.  Janet had "the poof" before Snookie.  (Rumor is, Janet gave Snookie hair lessons, but that has neither been confirmed nor denied by Janet herself.)  Besides a great sense of humor, Janet also enjoys Luigi's on Bloomfield Ave, spin class and spending time with her long-time boyfriend, Steve.

Facilities on the Course

The restrooms at the 8th tee will be operational by Sunday, April 3rd. 

The restrooms at the 5th tee will be operational by Friday, April 8th.   

The silver water cooler against the Clubhouse near the 12th tee will be operational by Friday, April 8th.
